Who are We? |
Sea Scouts, is a specialized program of the Boy Scouts of America for young men and women ages 14 to 20. It is organized to address a youth members' boating skills and promote knowledge of our maritime heritage. Sea Scout units– called ships- focus on sailing and cruising either sailboats, power vessels or paddle sports. They provide limitless opportunities and exciting challenges that you won’t find anywhere else. Sea Scouts is a place to grow and learn, have fun, adventure, and build long lasting friendships.

Our crew sails a 36' sailboat named the Knight n' Gale. She is a single mast sloop rigged vessel, equipped with modern navigational electronics, a galley, and sleeps up to 10 scouts for our overnight adventures. We recently received a second vessel, the Aurora, to add to our growing program.

Sea Scouts aboard our ship have the opportunity to participate in high adventure activities. This including long cruises, shooting sports, international sailing trips, kayaking, rock climbing, scuba diving, and zip-lining. Scouts are also able to participate in BSA High Adventure camps such as SEA Base in Florida.....More

Leadership of the S.S.S. Marvin Shields
Ella has been a member of the ship since 2017 as a founding member. Working alongside her parents at Phoenix Dragon Martial Arts in Port Angeles, she has earned an adult black belt in hapkido and is an experienced rower with Olympic Peninsula Rowing Association. She plans to continue rowing and other water activities in college, while earning her a degree in criminology and psychology.

Elliot has been in the ship since 2017 as a founding member. He is involved with his high school's DECA program. This summer he will be the dungeon master of a summer D&D group. He enjoys reading fantasy novels and creating videos for his you tube channel. Elliot has a passion for sailing. He has attended six sailing camps including one at St. Mary's College in Maryland. Elliot is also a member of the Port Angeles High School sailing team.
